Using Evidence to Make Clinical Decisions

Do you want to use quality evidence for your patients but struggle to find the time?

Our workshops will help you to learn about using Clinical Decision Making principles and skills. You will have an opportunity to hone these skills so that they can then inform clinical work and save you time.

We recognise that everyone has different starting points so we tailor the programme accordingly and offer a progression of workshops.

Workshops in 2013 are scheduled as follows:

The workshops are modelled on those run at the Centre for Evidence Based Practice in Oxford and are subsidised by PenCLAHRC.  Attendance fees are as follows:

  • £100 per day for GMC-registered delegates

  • £50 per day for Allied Healthcare Professionals and other non GMC-registered delegates

The programme for the standard one-day workshops has been awarded 5 CPD points by the Royal College of Physicians.

After the workshops, participants should be able to:

1. formulate a focused question
2. track down and organise the best evidence
3. gain experience of critically appraising the evidence
4. understand the application of evidence in practice
5. evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of your educational process
