Job Opportunity – PenCLAHRC Events and Training Coordinator

The University of Exeter Medical School are looking to recruit an Events and Training Coordinator within PenCLAHRC. This part time (0.5FTE) post is available immediately on a fixed term basis until 30 September 2019. 

The post holder will make a crucial contribution to the delivery of PenCLAHRC's objectives through expert coordination of its training and events programmes. A member of the PenCLAHRC Project Support Team (comprising staff from both Universities in the collaboration), they will also work closely with the academic and clinical colleagues who lead on PenCLAHRC's capacity building initiatives, and will be responsible for supporting the delivery of training programmes and standalone events through effective planning, organisation and hands-on facilitation.  They will take on project management duties, including budgetary responsibility, for PenCLAHRC's Making Sense of Evidence (MSE) programme.

The post holder will also play a key role in delivering PenCLAHRC's Research Question Prioritisation process through supporting the Engagement, Research Information and Communications Manager with the planning and organising of Stakeholder meetings.  This will involve liaising with senior staff in PenCLAHRC's NHS partner organisations to facilitate engagement with the process and ensure appropriate representation at the meetings.

Applicants will need to be happy working autonomously, prioritising tasks according to a constantly changing workload and making decisions independently within pre-defined parameters; have the ability to deal with frequent interruptions whilst maintaining focus and accuracy; and possess a strong customer focus, with a proven track record of developing excellent working relationships with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders. Experience of working in the Higher Education and/or Health and Social Care sectors would be an advantage.

Applicants must be educated to A Level standard or equivalent, or able instead to demonstrate extensive administrative experience highly relevant to the role.  Regular working on Wednesdays is an essential requirement. Occasional travel to partner organisations' offices and event venues around the South West Peninsula will be necessary.
