NIHR launch YouTube competition

A new media competition was launched by Dame Sally Davies at the third National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Centre and Unit (BRC and BRU) Experimental Medicine Research Training Camp last week.

The NIHR would like to encourage both their trainees and researchers to communicate their work through the medium of short videos. The competition aims to find the best short film to engage, inform and enthuse patients and the public about the value of health research.

Entrants will need to make a short video of no more than 5 minutes in length, using any appropriate medium, such as story-telling, animation, and interviews. These videos should then be uploaded to YouTube, following the competition guidance.

The best video will receive a £250 book token, and there are also prizes for runners up. These winning videos will also be posted to the official NIHR TV YouTube channel.

Please contact enquiries@nihr.ac.uk with any queries or for further information.

Due to a great deal of initial interest, the NIHR have decided to close the competition on 14th October 2012, with a view to announcing the first winners in November 2012.

Further information about the competition, and competition entries can be viewed online.
