This page provides more detail about the portfolio of PenCLAHRC projects. There are a variety of routes through which research questions become projects, but our adoption processes have the same three key aims:   

  • Conduct patient-focused research reflecting the needs of the public and the NHS
  • Support evidence-based service change for the benefit of patients and the public
  • Build capacity within the local health economy to generate and effectively use the results of research

Offenders have a high prevalence of many health problems, particularly mental illness and substance misuse. Passage through the many elements of the criminal justice system (CJS) provides both the potential for initial access to healthcare and also the disruption of existing care. Read more
