This page provides more detail about the portfolio of PenCLAHRC projects. There are a variety of routes through which research questions become projects, but our adoption processes have the same three key aims:   

  • Conduct patient-focused research reflecting the needs of the public and the NHS
  • Support evidence-based service change for the benefit of patients and the public
  • Build capacity within the local health economy to generate and effectively use the results of research

Self-harm and Suicide in Schools

This six-month study includes a survey consultation with all secondary schools in South-West England and Cardiff on self-harm prevention and intervention activities, followed by a series of focus groups. Read more

This early phase study examines whether by accessing first time parents and their infants through the Family Nurse Partnership model, an intervention can be delivered to improve the oral health of children in populations at high risk of poor oral health. Read more

This study examines why and how people’s ability to cope with poverty-related issues has become increasingly pathologised, and how high levels of antidepressant prescribing and use are impacting on people’s health and wellbeing in low-income communities in South West England. Read more

Devon Partnership Trust is currently piloting an out of hours telephony system for mental health enquiries. This project is modelling the system to ensure it can support the expected increases in demand over time. Read more
