This page provides more detail about the portfolio of PenCLAHRC projects. There are a variety of routes through which research questions become projects, but our adoption processes have the same three key aims:   

  • Conduct patient-focused research reflecting the needs of the public and the NHS
  • Support evidence-based service change for the benefit of patients and the public
  • Build capacity within the local health economy to generate and effectively use the results of research

APPEAL (Antenatal Preventative Pelvic floor Exercises and Localisation) - Delivery of Pelvic Floor Muscle Exercise Education for Women During Pregnancy

This NIHR Programme Grant funded project aims to prevent pregnancy- and childbirth-related urinary incontinence by increasing the number of women doing pelvic floor muscle exercises during pregnancy. Read more

From programme theory to logic models for Multispecialty Community Providers: A realist evidence synthesis

This study will address the problem of producing evidence-based logic models to inform the formation and early operation of Multispecialty Community Providers (MCPs) - patient-centred networks which aim to improve the coordination of hospital with family doctors’ care and social services. PenCHORD - Integrating Muscular Skeletal therapy services in Cornwall

Theme: PenCHORD
Status: Complete

Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske (RCHT) and Cornwall Partnership Foundation Trust (CPFT) have been operating separate outpatient services for Muscular Skeletal therapy and there is now a process of integration to operate the two services together. Read more

Using pharmacogenetics testing to identify monogenic diabetes earlier (The UNITED project)

During this project, the research team evaluated the cost-effectiveness of different strategies to identify those individuals with monogenic diabetes (who are often misdiagnosed) and change their treatment to that which is more appropriate. Read more
