Trial Manager, HERO study

Kath Maguire

I currently work as a Trial Manager on the HERO trial (Home-based Extended Rehabilitation for Older People). This is a randomised controlled trial to determine the clinical and cost effectiveness of the HOPE exercise programme. HERO is funded by the National Institute for Health Research Health Technology Assessment (NIHR HTA) and is led by Dr Andrew Clegg and colleagues at the Academic Unit of Care and Rehabilitation, University of Leeds and NIHR CLARHC South West Peninsula with Dr Vicki Goodwin as the Principal Investigator.

Previously I worked as a trial administrator for the Stroke Research Network at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust before joining the Research and Development department as a Senior Research Facilitator. More recently I worked for the South West Peninsula Clinical Research Network assisting and advising researchers on completing NIHR grant applications, attributing the costs of research following the Department of Health’s AcoRD guidelines and assisting with site identification, capacity and capability.
