Staff Profile

Dr Sara Hayes

Engagement, Research Information and Communications Manager

Kath Maguire

Since May 2016, I have been responsible for the development and facilitation of strategic partnerships between PenCLAHRC and its partners. I am also responsible for co-ordinating and managing the selection and retrieval of quantitative and qualitative data relating to research outputs for reporting purposes. Additionally, I manage the development and implementation of the PenCLAHRC communications strategy to raise awareness of research outputs, both internally and externally.

I joined PenCLAHRC in May 2015 as the Research and Operations Manager for PenCHORD, the operational modelling research group within PenCLAHRC. My primary responsibility was the operational management of the group, including staffing, finance, policy and governance, as well as supporting project delivery. In addition, I was responsible for managing a number of wider PenCLAHRC projects.

Previously, I worked as a Project Development Officer within the University of Exeter’s Research and Knowledge Transfer directorate, where I was responsible for managing two schemes designed to support collaborative projects between the University and external partners. Before joining the University, I worked for NHS NEW Devon CCG, Devon County Council and as a Research Assistant at Lancaster University.

In 2011, I was awarded my ESRC/NERC Interdisciplinary Studentship Award funded PhD in Volcanic Risk Management from Plymouth University and have also studied for a Masters at Lancaster University and BSc at the University of East Anglia, both in Environmental Sciences.
