Biography

Joe is a Urology specialty trainee surgeon in Southwest England. He is undertaking a PhD at the University of Exeter with PenCHORD, and is a National Clinical Research Fellow with the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme. Joe’s research interests are in clinical implementation and improving the environmental sustainability of healthcare.

Joe is leading a pilot GIRFT workstream designing sustainable care pathways for specific health conditions. This uses the expert-led and data-driven GIRFT approach to co-develop evidence-based guidance with patients and professionals. He adapts and models environmental impact assessment evidence to understand the potential reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by modifying clinical practice in the UK.
