Expertise

Nutrition, Dementia, Dietetics

Biography

I am a Registered Dietitian, and prior to starting on the PenCLAHRC PhD Research Capacity in Dementia Care programme (RDCP) in April 2016, I worked in a variety of NHS roles including in the community and acute settings.  I developed an interest in dementia and nutritional care, and recognised the issues that many of my patients faced regarding maintaining adequate nutritional status through the course of the disease.  I hope to be able to understand in more detail the factors that affect nutritional status throughout the progression of dementia, and develop a complex intervention to proactively prevent a decline in nutritional status.

I have undergraduate degrees in Dietetics and Electronic Systems (both achieved at Plymouth University), and prior to my BSc (Hons) Dietetics degree, I worked as a Senior Operations Manager at BT Openreach.

I have been working as a lecturer in dietetic practice at the University of Plymouth since January 2020.
