Biography

Sarah began a PenARC funded PhD studentship in October 2019 looking at implementing Functional Imagery Training (FIT) into healthcare settings. FIT is an intervention that trains patients to use imagery to support long term goal attainment. It has been used with many patient populations, however this PhD is focusing on weight management. To support the implementation of FIT a series of mixed method studies, working with healthcare professionals and patients, will be undertaken. Furthermore the theoretical underpinning of implementation science will be drawn upon to support the process of using FIT in healthcare settings.

Sarah graduated from the University of Plymouth with a first class degree in Applied Psychology. She then worked within the mental health sector before completing a masters in Social work in 2017. During her undergraduate degree she undertook a placement year within a neuro-cognitive research group working on novel assessment tools for older adults with a neurodegenerative disorder.

Sarah will be working as a Graduate Research Assistant on the Family Group Conferencing project from January 2022- June 2023. The project involves examining how Family Group Conferences (FGC) can be embedded as an alternative to Initial Child Protection Conferences to improve outcomes for families on the Child Protection pathway.
