Biography

I started work as a Research Group Co-ordinator in Primary Care at the University of Plymouth, Faculty of Health, in 2009. Given this, I have over 12 years of experience in a research based capacity, and have worked for the University for over 22 years. I provide support for PenARC and Community and Primary Care Research projects based in Plymouth.

I have developed skills in research coding, dissemination, developing research frameworks and mapping, recruitment strategies from vulnerable/hard to reach groups etc., and use these skills to build a deeper understanding of research processes and to inform projects from start-up to completion.

Also, I am heavily involved in Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) having run programmes of work for the Engager Project, Partners 2 Project, and many others. I also support bid submissions to the NIHR and other research funding bodies, helping to support, guide and advise about processes. Personally I hold an interest in mixed method research methodology, and I extended my skills through obtaining a BA (Hons) Childhood and Youth Studies from the Open University and going on to study MSc Social Research at the University of Plymouth.
